Having secured the space around starbase 82 it's time to board the station and find out what happened to the starbase...
The mission...
The team beams into the transporter room at the start of the mission, as you come around the corner you find a make-shift medical bay with an ensign awaiting the team, 4 members should head into the next room to find a forcefield (this group should be made up of tacticals and engineers who, using mortars and grenades, can kill the first group of Borg behind the forcefield) once these are dealt with, they should signal the remaining team member to start the mission (and thereby the optional timer). It is recommended that all team members carry a remodulator and two energy types (one should be a sniper rifle) to ensure maximum effectiveness.
As the team moves through the mission they will come across crewmembers being assimilated, however so long as you don't cross the lines (as shown on the map to the right) you won't trigger the assimilation timer, the team should clear out the Borg in the room first and then rush the crewman group (knock-back weapons are recommended), having killed the assimilating drones 4 team members should head to the right of the room and start working on the borg in the next room while the 5th beams the crewman out.
The next crewman is on the left as you enter the room, having cleaned out one of the two Borg groups, you should split into two groups of 2 and 3 people, 2 should push forward into the room while the other 3 break off for the crewman. (I recommend choosing these groups before starting the mission.) Running down the corridor you should take up positions along the trigger line that give views into the next room. You can either clear out the room or you can rush for the crewman and clean up after. In the next room the crewman is at the far end, you can set up a good little bunker among the benches by the window before the trigger line allowing you to hold the position while you clear the room. When you have a shot at it you should move for the crewman. |
The corridor has a couple of Borg groups, nothing too lengthy, the next room however involves a spot of coordination. best to use the same groups as last time, 2 go left, 2 of the 3 go right and the last one plays distraction for the drone in front of the exit. with these groups set up you should clear the three groups by the entrance before crossing the line, the moment these are down you should rush the crewmen. After this room is Captain Ogen. Ideally you want 7 minutes on the optional when timer leaving his room.
Miniboss: Captain Ogen
In this room the 2/1/2 split works well again with each two man group engaging a group on each side of the room with the last member of the team setting up for Ogen himself, this includes a cover shield in front of him and mines at is feet if they are an engineer, after the groups of Borg are finished off he will become target-able, players can shoot him in the sides while a cover shield pins him in his alcove. Half way into his health he will back into his alcove again and another wave of drones will spawn, the ramp is a defensible enough position, you can dispatch the drones in no time flat while the cover shield and mines are refreshed. once he becomes target-able again you can finish him off.
If the group of two stand by the exit, the group of three can activate the switches, these must be done together otherwise the forcefield won't drop. Take up positions along the trigger line and engage the group by the door, you can use security teams, clones and drones to assist with this as they don't trigger the assimilation process. Once this group is finished you should again enact the 2/1/2 split, 2 should go to the far end and rescue the crewman, 2 should go for the near one and the last member should help where needed. as soon as this room is clear it's a rush to the next trigger line. This room follows the same procedure as the last one, with any luck you'll get both crewmen and the optional.
In the final room there is a set of consoles in each corner, it's best to use the 2/3 split again ensuring the three can jump well such that they can reach the consoles while the other two keep the middle clear. It's easiest to open the room as a team, clear the left platform, then the right and start work on the middle before splitting up. The jumping group should activate the consoles in sync and as the shield drops one should activate the device, once the interaction animation starts the other two are free to move for the next platform, the last member can catch up after a few seconds, repeat this process until all 4 consoles have had this virus uploaded. You should immediately lay waste to the central column before spreading out to engage Manus of Borg.
Boss: Manus of Borg
This is one of the easier bosses in the game, especially if you have a good science or engineer player on the team. There is a pipe coming out of the 4th platform against the jumping platforms, one person can drop down there and use it as cover. (If your camera starts shaking in 'shooter mode' when crouched then you are in the right place) It is best to split up as Manus has a chain attack. With someone in place on the pipe it's pretty much a case of shoot at her until she dies, if need be however the 'reserve' player should crouch after being hit, to heal, then pop up to debuff her and put out some damage before crouching to heal again, if you see her preparing her chain lightning you should drop until after she fires it, the block to your right will take the hit, repeat until she dies.
When she goes down you can grab your rewards and leave. A note to team members who do fall during this fight: you can respawn outside the room, your 'team' powers will aid those still fighting.
